The first news of the Raiders not just interested in a player, but looking to sign them is not going to send shockwaves through the Raider Nation. They are adding former Ravens WR/KR Griff Whalen according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The #Raiders are adding some WR depth, signing former #Ravens WR Griff Whalen, source said. Receiver and returner.

Whalen was released by the Ravens in October of last year, so he can be signed right away... or any time in the last four months.
The 28-year-old was originally a undrafted free agent by the Colts out of Stanford Alum so he’s making his return to the Bay Area.
In 6 season with the Colts, Chargers, and Ravens, Whalen has caught 51 passes for 532 yards and 3 touchdowns. He’s also returned 47 punts for 378 yards (8.0 ypr) and 29 kicks for 701 yards (24.2 ypr).
I’m not sure I’d read much more into this than competition at punt returner where Jalen Richard muffed or fumbled 7 times last season — leading the league.
