Update: Derek Carr meeting Jordy Nelson at Oakland airport hoping he will cancel his other scheduled visits and sign with Raiders

Oakland is Jordy Nelson’s first stop. But it may not be his last. The free agent wide receiver has wisely not put all his eggs in one basket with his visit with the Raiders today. He has scheduled visits to Seattle and New Orleans after that according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

None of this is set in stone, however. The Raiders could make Nelson an offer he can’t refuse, and he could simply cancel the rest of his trip plans and sign on with the Raiders.

What the Raiders have that those other teams don’t is Nelson’s former wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator in house.

Edgar Bennett joined Jon Gruden’s staff as wide receivers coach, coming over from Green Bay where he was the Offensive Coordinator the past three seasons and wide receivers coach the previous four seasons.

Prior to that, Bennett was the Packers’ running backs coach for several years. That means he and Nelson — who was drafted in 2008 — have been together in Green Bay for Nelson’s entire career.

Nelson had his best years in Green Bay from 2011-14 while Bennett was wide receivers coach. We’ll see if that and whatever the Raiders offer him contract wise will be enough.

UPDATE: Derek Carr is meeting Jordy Nelson at the airport. I guess the Raiders are pretty serious about him not finishing his trip.
