The Muscle Hamster is now an Oakland Raider. The Stockton native is coming home on a one year deal with the Raiders, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It was just 2015 when the 29-year-old back was an All Pro after running for 1402 yards with 6 touchdowns. Since then, things have not gone as well for the 5-9, 223-pounder.

Just after signing a new 5-year, $37 million deal with the Buccaneers, his production fell off. He rushed for just 421 yards in 8 games (2.9 ypc) and was suspended for four games for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse.

He was even worse in 2017, rushing for just 406 yards in 11 games, and again averaging a lowly 2.9 yards per carry.

Signing on with the Raiders is a chance at redemption. I don’t expect he will be a threat to Marshawn Lynch’s job. Martin is a mighty mite like Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington. I expect the three of them to compete for the change-of-pace back behind Marshawn. Anything more than that would be ill advised on the Raiders’ part.

UPDATE: Then there’s this from Mike Silver:
