Free agent wide receiver Ryan Grant reportedly set to visit Raiders

After already signing Jordy Nelson, it appears the Raiders may not be done adding to their receiving corps as Redskins free agent Ryan Grant is reportedly set to visit the Silver and Black per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Grant, 27, has posted 84 career receptions for 985 yards and six touchdowns in his first four years.

He became a starter in Washington at the end of last season and is coming off his best year, recording 45 receptions for 573 yards and four touchdowns in 7 starts.

Less than a week ago, Grant was expected to become a new addition to the Baltimore Ravens with the two parties even agreeing to a four-year contract.

As fate would have it, shortly after the signing it was announced the Raiders released nine-year veteran Michael Crabtree, instantly making him the top receiver on the market. Hours after news of Crabtree’s release broke, the Ravens failed Grant on his physical over an ankle injury that dated to Washington’s final regular-season game, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This resulted in Grant’s contract being voided and the 27-year-old receiver found himself back on the market. The timing of Grant’s failed physical is suspicious, especially considering Baltimore signed Crabtree the very next day to a 3-year deal worth $21 million.

Even more suspicious is Grant visiting the Colts and passing their physical exam. Now, the receiver will visit Oakland. Although, it would likely have to be at a lower price than what the Ravens originally offered.
