Reports: WR Eric Decker visits Raiders Tuesday, leaves without deal

We all remember the Raiders fielding two pretty successful wide receivers on the other side of 30 in his last stint in Oakland. So far in this stint, he has already signed 32-year-old former Pro Bowl receiver Jordy Nelson. Now the team is having 31-year-old former 1000-yard receiver Eric Decker according to Vic Tafur of the Athletic.

Decker is two seasons removed from his last 1000-yard campaign (1027) while he was still a member of the Jets. It was the third of his career, the previous two catching passes from Peyton Manning in Denver. Last season he spent with the Titans, appearing in 16 games, starting 8, catching 54 passes for 563 yards and one touchdown.

He hasn’t been a blip on the free agent radar through the first week. As of this morning, Decker was said to be in New Orleans, visiting the Saints, according to the Denver Post.

Not long after the report came out of Decker visiting New Orleans, Sean Payton went all Dikembe Mutombo on it.

That makes sense because that would have been a pretty quick turnaround.

UPDATE: Decker has come and went from Oakland with no deal reported to have been struck.

Decker isn’t even the most interesting free agent wide receiver on the market right now.
