NFL Combine day three open thread: Defensive line, Linebackers take the field

New, comments
NFL: Combine Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

After two days of offensive players showing off their stuff, today we turn to the defense for the first time. First up will be the defensive line, followed by the linebackers.

Yesterday was bench press and interviews. Today it’s workouts, starting with the measurable events like 40-yard-dash, 3-cone, vertical jump, broad jump, and short shuttle and followed by position specific drills.

The workouts today should be of particular interest to the Raiders who have glaring needs at interior defensive line and linebacker. Both positions are deep in this draft, with potentially 4-5 players taken in the first round. There also could be the top defensive lineman and/or linebacker on the board when the Raiders pick at 10 and solid talent still on the board when the Raiders select at pick 41 in the second round.

How they perform in the drills today will go a long way to separating the good and the great.
