Darius Latham waived by Raiders

New, comments

Maybe not the most exciting news on Draft Day, the Raiders have officially parted ways with defensive lineman Darius Latham.

Latham became a fan favorite in 2016 due to outplaying his un-drafted free agent status. Despite garnering notice for an interior push on a defensive line that lacked any pass rush beyond Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin, Latham failed to register any sacks as a Raider.

An undrafted free agent out of Indiana in 2016, Latham played in 17 games over his two seasons in Oakland, totaling 23 tackles (14 solo) and two passes defended. He spent most of last season on the practice squad, appearing in 3 games.

Could this mean the Raiders are looking at a defensive tackle with their top pick? Don’t read too much into this transaction Raider Nation. Guenther needs a couple more defensive linemen to fit his scheme, and its likely they viewed Latham as a poor fit.
