Cushing is entering his 10th NFL season and will turn 31 ahead of training camp.
He’s a youngster compared to the 35-year-old Derrick Johnson. Both are middle linebackers by trade. If the Johnson signing put the odds of bringing back Bowman slim.
Cushing has been suspended multiple times due to Performance Enhancing Drug violations. He appeared in just five games last season for the Texans.
His last full season was 2015 in which he had 110 combined tackles (63 solo). He was originally a 15th overall pick in the 2009 draft out of USC. He made his only Pro Bowl as a rookie.
