The L.A. City Attorney’s office has decided to not press charges against Raiders LT Donald Penn in an altercation that happened between him and his wife on April 29th, this according to TMZ.
The whole thing was apparently instigated by Donald Penn allegedly slapping his wife’s butt which then was said to escalate into a verbal altercation and eventually Penn pouring a drink on her head.
Both Donald Penn and Mrs. Penn put out a joint statement after the incident made the news that shot down allegations that the fight had ever become physical.
“There was a verbal disagreement, there was NO physical altercation. The two are in the middle of a divorce and it is a hard time for both parties.”
The spokesperson for the L.A. City Attorney’s office has put out a statement regarding the decision.
“The office rejected this case because of lack of corroboration and on the ground that there is no reasonable likelihood of conviction on the domestic violence matter.
“Bottom line, lack of sufficient evidence.”
The decision to not press charges closes the case. It appears this incident was a byproduct of tensions brought on by tough times the two are currently having. Penn can move on to focusing on getting healthy for next season.
