All-time Raiders fantasy draft

New, comments
Bo Jackson

Today the Silver & Black Pride started a fun project. We’re picking fantasy teams, except these teams can only be made up of Raiders players. There are eight of us, so it’s an 8-team league and each of us will be constructing a 25-man roster.

Here’s the rules:

The order was chosen at random (I literally wrote everyone’s name on pieces of paper, folded them and drew them out of a bowl). It’s a snaking draft which means the first round order will reverse in the second and so on.

We can draft any player from any era, but the catch is we only get them during their Raiders years. So, if you want Eric Dickerson, fine, you don’t get All Pro Rams/Colts Dickerson, you only get 32-year-old 1992 Dickerson.

We also can’t just draft any player at any position. These are actual fantasy teams we’re putting together here, after all. The positions are as follows: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 OT, 2 OG, 1 C, 2 DT, 2 ED, 3 LB, 2 CB, 2 S, 1 K, 1 P, 1 RS.

We are currently drafting and just completed the first round. Here are the results so far:

All-time Raiders fantasy draft round one

Pick Team Player Position Notes
Pick Team Player Position Notes
Round 1 - 1 Ryan Bo Jackson RB Bo Jackson might be the best Raider athlete of all time.
2 Goro Charles Woodson CB Hard call among all the all-time greats at the CB position, but CWood edges out the rest for his longevity + personal fave bias.
3 BD Williams Gene Upshaw OG One of the most heavily awarded Raiders player all time. Helped pave the way to 3 Super Bowl berths in 3 decades, Winning 2 of them.
4 RDreamer Marcus Allen RB A Heisman Trophy winner and arguably the best Raider running back ever.
5 Levi Ken Stabler QB With only a handful of great QB's in Raiders history, getting The Snake here is a must.
6 Carl Tim Brown WR All-time Raiders leading receiver. Would he be No. 1 in NFL history if he played with a solid quarterback his whole career?
7 Marcus Howie Long DE Since I can’t have my namesake I'll go with the Raider with the 2nd most sacks in team history.
8 Tyler Derek Carr QB With Stabler off the board, my team secures a proven quarterback with tons of potential

Ryan went with the man, the myth, the legend, Bo Jackson to get things started.

Then Goro went the other direction, from the short career of Bo, to the lengthy, future Hall of Fame career of CWood.

BD Williams went with tried and true Gene Upshaw.

Then it was RDreamer grabbing the second running back off the board.

I nabbed the first QB, getting The Snake to lead my team.

Carl ended Mr Raider’s wait at 6 overall.

Marcus took the first great pass rusher off the board, getting Howie Long.

And Tyler went with the first current Raiders player taken by getting Derek Carr with the final pick.

So many legendary Raiders await. It’s going to be fun putting these teams together and comparing squads.
