In just about every metric you can throw out, Khalil Mack is better than Von Miller. And yet in this year’s NFL Top 100 rankings, somehow Miller landed seven spots ahead of Mack.
Last week Mack’s name was called at 16 overall. It was a bit surprising, because most of us didn’t expect to see him come up until today. But no. Not even close.
This week the NFL Top 100 is in it’s final stretch, counting down the Top 10. There at 9 overall was Von Miller. That doesn’t seem right.
Don’t get me wrong, here. I am NOT taking anything away from Von Miller. He is deserving of a place either in the top ten or close to it. But, just as we said at the time, there’s simply no way Mack should be seven spots behind him, let alone in the upper teens.
Really the only thing Miller has on Mack is he’s been doing it longer. But the NFL Top 100 isn’t a career metric. It’s a right now metric. And whether you’re looking at just last season or the past three seasons, Mack has simply been better. More sacks, pressures, run stops, and tackles. And less help from the rest of the defense which means more double teams.
He’s also about to overtake Miller as the NFL’s highest paid non-QB. What do you do.
