Today’s the day. When all Raiders players will report and check into the room that will be their home for the next three weeks. In total, 60 players are expected to be arriving at the Napa Valley Marriott today, adding to the 29 rookie, first year players, and quarterbacks who attended the three-day pre-camp warm-up.
Most players will arrive via their own vehicle and trickle in one by one. While a handful of players — mostly newly signed players — will arrive via team bus. They will check in at the outside table, get settled in and probably have lunch before taking a physical.
Unfortunately, for the first time in the nine years I’ve covered the team, there will be no player availability for the report day, so interviews will wait until the first practice day Friday.
The only player who is not reporting today is Khalil Mack, who is holding out awaiting a contract extension.
Three players will start camp on the PUP list — Donald Penn (foot), Eddie Vanderdoes (knee), and PJ Hall (undisclosed). But they will still be here at camp and will count toward the 90-man roster.
Practice begins tomorrow morning, with the players suited up and taking the field at 9:15am. Starting with no pads for two days and pads allowed for the third day.
