It’s game time, Raider Nation! The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. In just a few short minutes, the Oakland Raiders will take the field in a preseason game against the Detroit Lions at the Oakland Coliseum under former and current head coach Jon Gruden.
The Raiders are bringing in an entirely new offensive system under Gruden and offensive coordinator Greg Olson as well as a new defensive system under Mike Zimmer disciple Paul Guenther. The high-powered Lions will be a great test of the new defensive scheme, and their solid secondary should pose a challenge for the Raiders’ crop of receivers.
The Raiders’ new additions such as Jordy Nelson, Doug Martin, Kolton Miller, Rashaan Melvin and more will get their first taste of real game action at the Coliseum tonight against tens of thousands of screaming Raider fans. Matt Stafford, if all goes well, will get his first taste of Bruce Irvin and Maurice Hurst. Go Raiders!!!
