Two AFC West rivals play some preseason football tonight, here is your open thread

There are two NFL games on the slate tonight. Both feature an AFC West rival team First up it’s the Broncos hosting the Vikings at 6:00pm PT. An hour later, it’s the Cardinals hosting the Chargers at 7:00pm PT.

In both cases, you won’t see the starters much, but you will get a pretty good look at some of the players vying for playing time and thus get a fairly good idea of what kind of talent lies beneath the surface of the division.

And of course you can expect there will be a lot of overreactions, both about the good and the bad. Fans will get really excited about how a third stringer plays against other third stringers. It’s par for the course. We all do it.

When you’ve been without football for 8 months, you tend to be pretty hard up for something to be excited about. That goes more so for fans of the Broncos, who finished dead last in the division last season (5-11) and the Chargers who haven’t been to the playoffs since 2013 and can’t fill a miniature stadium in a city in which they don’t belong.
