While the Raiders should be giving plenty of run to their starters against the Packers at the Oakland Coliseum on Friday night, the visiting team won’t be doing the same, according to Mike Garofalo of NFL Network:
The #Packers will rest a bunch of starters on offense tomorrow vs. OAK, with Aaron Rodgers among those not expected to play, sources say. Since starters rarely play the fourth preseason game, Rodgers likely closes the preseason with four passes. Pretty sure he'll be ready though.— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) August 23, 2018
Am told a few of them didn’t even have to make the trip. Mike McCarthy doesn’t care about standard operating procedure here. Maybe the dirt infield in Oakland got him thinking? He mentioned it in his presser the other day. https://t.co/n4FLyaLPJ4— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) August 23, 2018
So while the Raiders defense might have it easy against the likes of QB Deshone Kizer, the tweet doesn’t say that Green Bay would be sitting any defensive starters. The Raiders could face the Ghost of Clay Matthews and the Human Cigar Joke, Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix.
The baseball diamond on our stadium turf sure seems to be a deterrent for opposing players. If only they’d stop playing their starters here during the regular season, we’d be in terrific shape.
