Trading Ryan Switzer and signing Jarell Carter was just the start of the Raiders’ moves today, as the team has signed former Central Missouri and Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Connor Flagel and cut offensive tackle Breno Giacomini. They have also placed WR Griff Whalen on the reserve/injured list.
Giacomini signed with the Raiders this offseason with the expectation of becoming their starter at right tackle, but he was injured a few weeks ago in camp and hasn’t been able to practice or play. With Donald Penn seemingly entrenched at right tackle, Giacomini became expendable for the Raiders.
Flagel is a 6’5”, 298-pound defensive lineman who can play inside in a 4-3 or as a 3-4 end. He totaled 111 tackles and 4.5 sacks at Central Missouri in his three years with the program. This is the latest addition at defensive line, as the Raiders added DT Gabe Wright following his release from the Dolphins a few weeks ago.
