For the past three Raiders practices, DeAndre Washington has not been in attendance. No reason was known prior to today when he was neither on the field practicing, nor on the side working with injured players. Today we found out why that is.
“He left camp for personal reasons and we hope to have him back within the next day or so,” said Gruden.
It’s best not to speculate what nature of personal reasons would cause Washington to leave camp. Whether it be something to do with the team or outside of the team altogether such as family.
Regardless of the reason, it’s never good to miss camp days, it’s always best to be out at camp as much as possible. Washington in particular is in a battle for a roster spot at running back behind Marshawn Lynch. Currently it appears Doug Martin has the edge as the next back up, leaving Washington and Jalen Richard in a heated battle for what figures to be the final running back spot.
The Raiders have two more days of camp to prepare for their first preseason game and six total practices before breaking camp in Napa and heading back to Alameda.
