Greetings, Raider Nation! The Great Raiderdamus welcomes you to the very first regular season game of 2018 for the Oakland Raiders, led by mercurial head coach Jon Gruden. Tonight they’ll take on the Rams, who are one of the best teams in the NFL on paper. We’ve seen plenty of paper champions fall apart in the past, but will the Rams be another?

With the trade of Khalil Mack, the team now lives and dies with Derek Carr. And if we consider the Raiders’ performance in the playoffs without Carr, it always did anyway. The Rams have a talented young quarterback in Jared Goff and a high-priced defense featuring Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.

Can the Raiders get the second Gruden Era off to a winning start in front of an always-rabid home crowd?
