Raiders 2019 offseason schedule, events calendar, important dates

It’s the offseason for the Raiders and most of the NFL. Just four teams are left with a shot at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. While that happens, the other 28 NFL teams are busy preparing for 2019. Here are the dates to watch as the offseason goes along.

January

Jan. 19 East-West Shrine Game, Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida.

Jan. 19 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California.

Jan. 20 AFC and NFC Championship Games.

Jan. 26 Senior Bowl, Ladd-Peebles Stadium, Mobile, Alabama.

Jan. 27 NFL Pro Bowl, Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Florida.

February

Feb. 2 NFL Honors show. Hall of Fame class of 2019 announced

Feb. 3 Super Bowl LIII, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia.

Feb. 4 Waiver system begins

Feb. 19 First day for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

Feb. 26-Mar 4 NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana.

March

March 5, 1:00 pm Pacific (4:00 pm ET) Deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 11-13 Free agent negotiating period.

March 13 1:00 Pacific (4:00 pm ET) Deadline for clubs to exercise options for 2019 on all players who have option clauses in their 2018 contracts, submit qualifying offers to their Restricted Free Agents and tenders to Exclusive Rights Free Agents, be under salary cap for top 51 players

March 13 1:00 Pacific (4:00 pm ET) Start of new league year, free agency.

March 24-27 Annual League Meeting, Phoenix, Arizona.

April

April 15 Raiders may begin offseason workout program.

April 19 Deadline for Restricted Free Agents to sign offer sheets.

April 25-27 2019 NFL Draft, Nashville, Tennessee.

May

May 3-6 or 10-13 Three-day post-Draft rookie minicamp from Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday.

May 13 Rookie Football Development Programs begin.

May 16-19 NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Invited rookies (typically, first and/or second-round selections) must be permitted by their respective clubs to attend. Such players are unavailable for offseason workouts, OTA days, and minicamps during this period.

May 20-22 Spring League Meeting, Key Biscayne, Florida.

May 21-23 OTA’s

June

June 3-6 OTA’s

June 11-13 Mandatory minicamp

Late June Rookie Transition Program to be held at team facility. Attendance is mandatory for all 2019 rookies.

July

July 15 1:00 p.m Pacific (4:00 pm ET) Deadline for any club that designated a Franchise Player to sign such player to a multiyear contract or extension.

Mid-July Three day pre-camp warmup attended by rookies and first-year players and quarterbacks up to seven days prior to the start of training camp.

Late-July Training camp begins for Veteran players no earlier than 15 days prior to the team’s first Preseason game or July 15, whichever is later.

August

Aug. 1 Hall of Fame Game, Canton, Ohio.

Aug. 1-4 Hall of Fame Weekend, Canton, Ohio.

Aug. 6 Deadline for players under contract to report to their clubs to earn an accrued season for free agency.

Aug. 31 1:00 pm Pacific (4:00 pm ET). Roster cutdown to 53 players.

September

Sept. 1 Claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at 9:00 am Pacific (Noon ET).

Sept. 1 10:00 am Pacific (1:00 pm ET) Clubs may establish a practice squad of 10 players.
