Packers sign former Raiders WR Ryan Grant ahead of their matchup this week

A couple weeks ago the Raiders acquired former Packers wide receiver Trevor Davis in a trade. No doubt they will be hoping Davis can provide some helpful tips on his former team this week with the Raiders set to face them. Well, two can play that game. The Packers have now signed Ryan Grant who was with the Raiders all offseason and the first few games of this season.

Grant was pegged as the Raiders’ slot receiver throughout much of training camp and ended up starting a game this season. But after two games with just four catches for 14 yards, he was cut.

Adding Grant may or may not help the Packers from an on-field talent regard. It’s pretty short notice for him to learn the Packers’ offense and contribute at receiver. But you can bet he will have the ear of the Packers defensive staff who would like to know whatever info he can provide as to how to what the Raiders offense plans to do. It’s a fairly common strategy.

And if they like what they see from Grant, he can provide some talent going forward. The Packers are banged up at receiver too.
