With trade deadline looming, still no move by Raiders

NFL: New York Jets at Jacksonville Jaguars Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL trade deadline is nearly upon us (4 pm ET), and as of now, the Raiders have not made a move.

Many believed, including Adam Schefter, that the Raiders would be active players as the deadline approached. Although they have already been active making moves to bring in wide receivers Trevor Davis, Zay Jones, and dealing away Gareon Conley, there are still some holes that need to be filled.

There might not be a bigger need on the roster right now than at linebacker. The position has been struck with injury and of course, the suspension of Vontaze Burfict. Gruden spoke yesterday and said they would be looking to address the position in the next 48 hours.

The list of names on the block at linebacker is not robust, so Gruden may choose to save his picks and look to add someone through free agency.

If a move at linebacker isn’t made, why not some help with the pass rush? A potential sleeper move I have written about previously is with the Jacksonville Jaguars for a defensive end, Yannick Ngakoue.

Ian Rapoport did report that he doesn’t believe that the Jags will move Ngakoue, but everyone has a price.

The one player, the Raiders, have been linked to is New York Jets wide receiver, Robby Anderson. The market for Anderson is reportedly large; rumors have it the Jets are looking for at least a fifth-round pick in return.

The Raiders have already added two receivers in the past couple weeks through trade, so it seems unlikely a third could be added.
