One day after grabbing a win against the Bengals, the Raiders have opted to sign former Cincinnati linebacker Preston Brown.

Brown entered the league as the No. 73 overall pick in 2014 with Buffalo and tied for the NFL’s top tackling mark in his final year with the Bills in 2017. As the Bengals looked to get younger across the board, Brown no longer figured into their plans and was waived on Nov. 12.
The Raiders linebacker corps has been porous this season, and their struggles with consistent tackling and pass coverage were apparent against Cincinnati. Brown may not be a long term solution, but he could be a solid band-aid for a unit that is relying much too heavily on Tahir Whitehead and Nicholas Morrow.
In a corresponding move to fit Brown onto the roster, the Raiders decided to place Dwayne Harris on IR.
The 32-year-old wide receiver and core special teamer has battled a foot injury that caused the team to trade for Trevor Davis earlier this season. Harris will be a free agent this offseason, so this move may effectively end his tenure in silver and black unless he is brought back for cheap next season.
