Raiders versus Chargers open game thread

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

It’s time. The Raiders will aim to take a season sweep of the 5-9 Chargers after beating them 26-24 in their midseason meeting.

The Raiders last swept the Chargers in 2016, and they’ll have a strange advantage on Sunday with a Los Angeles crowd expected to be dominated by Raider Nation.

The Chargers are favored by 7.5 points, a line that has grown in recent days as more and more bets are placed on Los Angeles. Considering that the Raiders all-around performance has taken a nosedive as of late, that may not be the worst bet. But facing the Chargers might be just the medicine for their recent woes.

No matter the result, the Raiders are in a win-win position with this game. If they win, they’ll assuming bragging rights against a division rival and perhaps keep their tiny playoff hopes alive. If they lose, they’ll improve draft position and potentially leapfrog the Chargers up the board.

With everything going the Raiders’ way in the open window, they’ll keep playoff hopes alive with a win here.

Here’s your open game thread, ya’ filthy animals. Only two more Sundays left. Let’s hope the boys make it count.
