What condition Raiders position is in pre-free agency 2019: Center

New, comments

We check on each Raiders position ahead of free agency to give it a condition of either Strong, Stable, Unstable, Serious, or Critical.

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Starter: Rodney Hudson

Backup: Cameron Hunt

Free agent: Jon Feliciano

The starting center position doesn’t get better than Rodney Hudson. He was a deserving Pro Bowler, even though he was snubbed this year. He is the league’s best pass blocker, having not given up a sack the past two seasons and barely allowing any pressure. He is also solid as a run blocker.

Feliciano is the only lineman listed at both guard and center. He was drafted as a guard and after a season had also taken over as the team’s backup center.

Hunt spent camp with the team last year, but didn’t make the team. He was brought back in December with the injury to Feliciano that sent him to IR.

Condition: Stable

Hudson is the team MVP and he’s locked in, so there’s no question there. Where the question lies is in his backup. It shouldn’t be a major undertaking to find someone to back him up, but find someone they must. Whether in free agency or the draft. Feliciano is likely headed for free agency. The only way he wouldn’t be is if they were to release Kelechi Osemele which would mean Feliciano would be stepping in at left guard.
