Zach Brown and Stacy McGee become cap casualties in Washington

The fallout of free agency has already begun for several teams. Today Washington let go of a highly productive linebacker — a position of need for the Raiders — and a former Raiders draft pick.

With the cutting of insider linebacker Zach Brown and defensive tackle Stacy McGee, Washington saves just over $8 million. They need the relief as they sit among the least amount of available cap space and still have their draft class to think about.

Both players are 29 years old.

McGee was a former Raiders 6th round pick. He left as a free agent following the 2016 season, signing a 5-year, $25 million deal. Now two years later, he’s unemployed. The Raiders are pretty set at the DT spot with the re-signing of Johnathan Hankins.

Brown even got less time in Washington. He was a free agent just last year and even made a visit to Oakland, leaving without a deal and shooting out his infamous tweet as he was flying out, quoting lyrics from an unfortunately named rapper for the moment — MoneyBagg Yo.

And here he is a year later, getting ready to make the visit circuit again. And here the Raiders are again, STILL without a viable middle linebacker. Could they check in with him for a ’RESET’? Maybe he could tell the Raiders to ‘Bet On Me’ and would take a deal at a ‘Lower Level’?

Editor’s note: Yes, I looked up MoneyBagg Yo songs for that last bit.
