More offense in free agency for the Raiders and another wide receiver. Friday the Raiders made their third wide receiver acquisition this week, signing former Cardinals wide out JJ Nelson.
The 5-10, 160-pounder was a former 5th round pick by the Cardinals, after the former UAB Blazer ran a 4.28 40-yard-dash. playing his first four seasons in Arizona.
Despite appearing in 56 games with 15 starts, he was a bit of a forgotten man for the Cardinals last season, totaling just 7 catches for 64 yards on 19 targets.
Since entering the league in 2015, Nelson’s yards per reception average of 17.8 ranks first in the NFL among players with at least 80 receptions during that span. Of Nelson’s 11 career touchdowns, five have come from at least 30 yards out, including three from 50-plus yards.
His bests season came in 2016 when he caught 34 passes for 568 yards and 6 touchdowns.
