Perhaps no free agent the Raiders had this offseason was more of a key part to their team than Jared Cook. So, of course they’re letting him walk away. The 2018 Pro Bowler is set to sign with the New Orleans Saints according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The #Saints are expected to sign free agent TE Jared Cook, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. One of the top free agents still out there, Cook gives QB Drew Brees an immediate big-time weapon.

At 31 years of age, Cook had a career year in Jon Gruden’s offense last season. He led the team in catches (68) and receiving yards (896), adding 6 touchdowns. That wasn’t enough to have the Raiders make a serious effort to retain him. He was allowed to hit the free agent market and signed with the first team he visited.
This move gives Drew Brees a top tight end target and leaves the Raiders without one.
Currently the tight ends on the Raiders roster are Darren Waller, Derek Carrier, and Lee Smith who had a combined 23 catches for 215 yards and 4 touchdowns. Needless to say, tight end now becomes a glaring need. Cuz the Raiders didn’t have enough needs already.
