Another top player who many thought would be slapped with the franchise tag and thus never see free agency will hit the market after all. Monday it was Ravens linebacker CJ Mosley who we learned will head for free agency. Tuesday it’s Giants’ safety Landon Collins.

The three-time Pro Bowl safety said goodbye to the Giants Tuesday.

Collins was selected in the second round of the 2015 draft out of Alabama. He has been a fulltime starter since day one. In his second season, he was named All Pro. The past three seasons, he has been named to the Pro Bowl.

There will be few free agents more coveted than Collins. The Raiders have made it clear they are looking to add a safety to go along with Karl Joseph and there isn’t a more perfect fit than Collins.

No doubt the 25-year-old will come at a premium price, but if the Raiders want him, they may just have the opportunity to get him when the free agent negotiating period starts on March 11.
