After a successful 7-game stretch with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football, DaMontre Moore has earned himself another shot at continuing his NFL career. Last seen in the NFL last season with the Raiders, he has returned to the Bay Area, signing on with the San Francisco 49ers.
Moore had 7.0 sacks for the AAF in the league’s brief existence. That 1.0 sack per game led the league. When the league folded, there was little doubt he would receive interest from NFL clubs. The question was whether the Raiders would be the team to bring him back.
The Raiders had made any attempt to sign Moore according to a source, but Moore chose to sign with the 49ers.
Friday the Raiders instead signed Moore’s teammate, Alex Barron, to a contract. Barron didn’t approach the 7.0 sacks Moore had. he put up 2.0 sacks and Pro Football Focus said they graded him as the fifth best pass rusher in the league.
