Marshawn Lynch reportedly willing to return to Raiders if they want him

Now this is an interesting development. The same day the Raiders lost Isaiah Crowell to a torn Achilles and brought Doug Martin back to replace him, we hear that the reports that Marshawn Lynch retiring have been greatly exaggerated. A source close to NFL Network’s Steve Wyche says that should the Raiders ask Marshawn Lynch to return, he would.

Not only does this go against the notion that Marshawn is done with football, as was suggested with the reports that he wouldn’t return next year, but that the Raiders’ proclamations that whether he returns depends on “what he wants to do” for Marshawn to return may not be entirely without strings.

To be fair, the Raiders also said whether Lynch is brought back would depend on what they did in the draft and they were able to land Josh Jacobs with the 24th pick. However, the situation changed once again with the Crowell injury. At this point it appears the Raiders have chosen to bring back Martin over re-signing Marshawn. One can assume that would have as much to do with salary as anything as Doug Martin is considerably more affordable.
