Strengths

Prototypical size for an NFL cornerback. Excellent athletic profile that predicts a longer career in the NFL. Consistently challenges the catch, racking up 40 pass deflections in 4 seasons. Special teams ace who started on many kick and return teams. Experience as a kick and punt returner. Was clearly one of the most talented players on the field for Fordham.

Weaknesses

Lacks physicality as a tackler and defeating blocks. Needs to do a better job of staying in phase in press coverage, allows too much separation that he won’t be able to recover from in the NFL. Can improve his angles in pursuit. Faced lower level of competition which can make for a difficult transition to the NFL.

Fit with Raiders

Mabin has enticing size and athleticism for the position. Has experience playing the press technique that Defensive Coordinator Paul Guenther prefers from his cornerbacks. Could push for the final cornerback position, would likely secure a spot on the team if one of the front runners goes down due to injury. Ability to play special teams helps his chances.
