Raiders and Rams in 'final stages' of working out joint practices

New, comments

It’s customary during training camp for NFL teams to hook up with another franchise for joint practices. After several days of beating up on teammates it’s good to bring in some fresh meat to let loose on.

Last season the Raiders welcomed the Detroit Lions to Napa where the two teams practiced together for multiple days leading up to their preseason match up. According to Jon Gruden, this year it could be his good friend and protege, Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams.

“Yeah, I talked to Sean McVay at 4 o’clock in the morning. Sean and I talk a lot, at about 4:00 am” said Gruden. “We are considering working against the Rams prior to the first preseason game. Nothing is 100 percent finalized yet, but if possible that certainly I think, might benefit the both of us. We are in the final stages trying to work something out.”

This will be the second year in a row that the Raiders will meet the Rams in the preseason. Who could forget last years snooze fest in week two of the preseason. Although it was the second preseason game both teams sat starters due to the fact that they would see each other just four weeks later in the season opener.
