This afternoon the Raiders announced that their pick at #27 overall, Mississippi State safety Johnathan Abram, has signed his rookie contract with the team. The deal is for four years with a fifth-round option like all first round contracts, although the financial details are undisclosed thus far.
Abram has stood out during OTAs and figures to be a starter in Paul Guenther’s defense this year alongside fellow safety Karl Joseph and safety/corner Lamarcus Joyner. Abram was the third and final first-rounder for Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock in April’s draft but is the second to sign, leaving only Alabama running back Josh Jacobs unsigned in Oakland’s draft class. Perhaps later today we’ll get the news that Jacobs, too, has officially joined the Silver and Black.
