With right guard while Gabe Jackson expected to miss at least the first four weeks of the season with an MCL injury, the Raiders suddenly have a major need at the position. They could try and fill that position on the team or look elsewhere. They are doing their due diligence on potential replacements according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Raiders are scouring waiver wire and have begun contacting other clubs to gauge which guards will become available as Aug. 31 roster cutdown nears, source said. Team open to a trade before Aug. 31, which would allow it to circumvent the waiver system and address position of need.

Jackson suffered the injury during the second day of joint practices with the Rams last week. Already without left guard Ritchie Incognito who is suspended for the first two games of the season along with Denzelle Good who is recovering from back surgery, the offensive line is all of a sudden in a major bind.
Jonathan Cooper is pegged for the left guard spot. In house options to fill the right guard spot include Denver Kirkland and Jordan Devey. On paper the offensive line looked to be a strength of the team heading into training camp. Not anymore.
