Source: Raiders waive standout undrafted rookie Anthony Rush

One of the top undrafted rookie for the Raiders that Jon Gruden had in mind when he glowed about how possibly five of them could make the team was defensive tackle Anthony Rush. The 6-5, 340-pounder out of UAB was a force in the preseason, but apparently it wasn’t enough as the team has waived him according to a source.

Rush made a surprise push at the position despite not joining the team until training camp. He happened to be at a position that was quite crowded for the Raiders where tough decisions were going to have to be made regardless of whether it was Rush or someone else.

Based on what he put on tape in the preseason, the Raiders would be lucky if Rush clears waivers to make it to the practice squad. A lot of teams can use a player of his size and obvious raw talent.
