Last week the Raiders were 7.5-point underdogs at home against the Chiefs. They lost 28-10. This week they see the line go in the wrong direction as they prepare to head to Minnesota to face the Vikings.
Here are the lines according to Bovada.
Spread
Minnesota Vikings -8.5 (-110)
Oakland Raiders +8.5 (-110)
Money Line
Minnesota Vikings -400
Oakland Raiders +300
Over/Under
Over 43.5 (-110)
Under 43.5 (-110)
Both teams are 1-1 on the season. The Raiders opened the season with two straight home games, taking out a bad Broncos team at home 24-16 and then losing to the Chiefs after giving up four touchdowns in the second quarter and not scoring a single point over the last three quarters.
The Vikings beat the Falcons 28-12 at home in their season opener before falling to their division rival Packers in Green Bay by a score of 21-16. They came back from a 21-0 deficit early to make a game of it late, but fell short in part due to turning the ball over four times and kicker Dan Bailey missing a field goal and an extra point.
The Packers scored their third touchdown in the first 40 seconds of the second quarter off a Vikings fumble. After that the Vikings defense tightened up didn’t give up a point the rest of the way. In other words, they are a talented team overall if the offense could just stop shooting themselves in the foot. That’s where the spread comes from.
