A big part of the Vikings defense is linebacker Anthony Barr. Not having him would loom large against the Raiders this Sunday and the four-time Pro Bowler missed practice today with a groin injury, putting his status in doubt.
The former 9th overall pick made the Pro Bowl in his second season and has been back every season since. He is a key contributor to Mike Zimmer’s defense in Minnesota which had been in the top ten in each of Barr’s five seasons with the team.
His status on Friday will certainly be one worth monitoring. Meanwhile LB Ben Gideon returned to practice from a groin injury.
Still missing for the Raiders was Trent Brown with a knee injury, though offensive coordinator Greg Olson seems to think the right tackle will be fine for Sunday. His participation will also be worth monitoring Friday.
As a whole, the Raiders are still pretty banged up. Josh Jacobs (hip), Vontaze Burfict (shoulder/knee), Gareon Conley (neck), and Tyrell Williams (hip) are all still limited.
Good news is Corey Liuget, JJ Nelson, and Corey Riley were all upgraded to full participants in practice. Liuget and Nelson both missed last week’s game against the Chiefs.
