Marquel Lee heads to Raiders injured reserve to make room for addition of LB Dakota Allen

Sunday in Minnesota the Raiders linebacking corps was depleted pretty severely. The first to go down, and seemingly the most serious was an ankle injury suffered by Marquel Lee. The results were not positive and Lee is headed to injured reserve.

In response to his injury, the Raiders have officially signed rookie linebacker Dakota Allen off the Rams’ practice squad.

Many of you may know Allen from his time on the show Las Chance U. He became the first player to be featured on the show to be drafted into the NFL. He was a 7th round pick by the Rams, but didn’t make the opening day roster and was placed on their practice squad

The Raiders coaching staff got an up close and personal look at Allen when the Rams scrimmaged with them in Napa prior to their preseason opener. Allen had four tackles in that game and went on to have 22 tackles this preseason, good for the 7th most tackles in NFL. Two of those tackles were for a loss and he had a sack as well.

Allen, a 6-foot-1, 232-pound linebacker played collegiately at Texas Tech (2015, 2017-18) and East Mississippi Community College (2016). In his final season with the Red Raiders, Allen posted 73 tackles (33) after leading the program with 102 stops the previous season.
