Las Vegas Raiders starting rookie wide receiver Bryan Edwards was on the practice field Wednesday, but he is still doubtful to play Sunday at the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, according to coach Jon Gruden.
It was Edwards’ first field work since injuring his ankle and foot in a Week 3 defeat at the New England Patriots. If Edwards can continue to make strides and not suffer any setbacks, perhaps he can play next week against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Edwards, a third-round pick from South Carolina, began the season as a starter. He has five catches for 99 yards in three games. Expect Edwards to be in the top of the rotation with fellow rookie. Henry Ruggs III and veteran Nelson Agholor, who has been aa nice playmaker in all season.
Meanwhile, Gruden said he hopes standout right tackle Trent Brown can come back from the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list this week and play against the Browns. Thus, he should be able to play Sunday.
Also, guard Richie Incognito (Achilles) and cornerback Damon Arnette (thumb) are getting closer to practicing, but they’re not ready yet. They both should be on the field some time next month.
FYI on @Raiders Richie Incognito and Damon Arnette: Based on new I.R. rules - players are eligible to come back after three weeks - both are eligible to return. As of today, though, that has not happened for either.
