Many Las Vegas Raiders fans were disappointed that the 4-3 team didn’t add any reinforcements for the AFC playoff push by Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
Most fans were looking for the team to improve its pass-rush at the deadline. That sentiment was understandable as the Raiders have just seven sacks in seven games and have registered just one quarterback hit in each of the past two games. An improved pass rush is definitely needed.
Yet — the Raiders who don’t have much salary-cap room — stood pat at the trade deadline ... but that doesn’t mean potential pass-rush help can’t be added.
It has been reported that the Tennessee Titans will release Vic Beasley on Wednesday. Like every NFL player who is released after the trade deadline, Beasley will be subject to waivers. and would then be available on Thursday — and he would fit into the Raiders’ budget.
With the trade deadline now behind us, a reminder that all vested veterans will now be subject to waivers if released.— Field Yates (@FieldYates) November 3, 2020
A team could now claim Vic Beasley on Thursday and would owe him the remaining ~$1.85M he is due in base salary for this season. https://t.co/grFkcvoncW
While Beasley is a smart signing financially, he may not be the solution to a weak Las Vegas pass-rush attack. He made no impact with the Titans with no sacks this season after posting 37.5 sacks in five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Raiders have been connected to Beasley in the past, so perhaps they will consider adding him for the stretch run. Would you like him in the Silver and Black now?
