It doesn’t quite carry the sting of when Marcus Allen did it, but the Raiders have lost another running back to hated rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tough backup RB DeAndre Washington is leaving in free agency to join the Super Bowl champion Chiefs and to stay in the AFC West.

It seems like the Raiders were resigned to the fact Washington won’t be back. They will likely try to add a big running back to help 2018 first-round pick, star Josh Jacobs.

Washington was a fifth-round pick by the Raiders in 2016. He is a similar player to 2016 undrafted free agent Jalen Richard, who spent most of their careers ahead of Washington on the Raiders’ depth chart.

Still, Washington made some plays for the Raiders. He had 1,122 yards on 282 carries a (4.0 per carry average) in his career. Washington made some big runs in a Week 16 win over the Chargers last seasons with Jacobs hurt. He had 85 yards rushing in the game.

Washington now reunites with former Texas Tech teammate — and current Super Bowl champion — quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.

Washington also joins safety Karl Joseph (Cleveland) and pass rusher Benson Mayowa (Seattle) as unrestricted free agents who left the Raiders this year. Linebacker Tahir Whitehead joined the Panthers after being cut.
