A lot of people seem to be divided on Derek Carr as the QB for the Raiders. In 2019, he completed more than 70% of his passes, the highest of his career. He also threw for 4,054 yards, the most of his career. Carr became the third quarterback in NFL history to finish a season with 4,000 yards and a 70% completion percentage, joining Drew Brees and Kirk Cousins. However, there are people who weren’t too impressed with it.

Carr was also the first quarterback in franchise history to have back-to-back seasons with 4,000 passing yards.

So, how good of a season can he have in 2020?

NFL.com posted an interesting article where they talked about the potential MVP-type season he can have next year.

In Carr’s half-dozen seasons with the Raiders, he’s missed just two of a possible 96 starts, made three Pro Bowls, had four head coaches and a lack of consistency at wide receiver. In that time, the Raiders have just one winning season and one playoff berth, which might well be the largest looming factor in regard to doubts of his status as a franchise QB.

This offseason the Raiders added a speedy weapon that I’m sure Carr will fall in love with. Henry Ruggs III was the first wide receiver taken in the 2020 NFL Draft. In addition, Carr has targets like Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow returning. In addition, he has one of the best rising tight ends in the league in Darren Waller. Not to mention, a potential future top-five running back in Josh Jacobs.

Overall, this is arguably the best supporting cast Carr has ever had surrounding him.
