NFL Media reported that the Las Vegas Raiders agreed to terms with veteran defensive end Datone Jones on Wednesday.

Jones, 30, was a first-round pick by the Green Bay Packers out of UCLA in 2013. He last played in 2018 with the Dallas Cowboys, having joined the team in 2017. His position coach there was new Raiders’ defensive line coach Rod Marinelli.

Marinelli has a lot of influence on Jon Gruden’s staff. Jones is the third former Dallas defensive lineman to join the Raiders this offseason, joining Maliek Collins and Daniel Ross in with the Raiders.

Jones was in Jacksonville’s training camp last season but didn’t make the team.

Jones is a depth addition, especially with starter Maxx Crosby current on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It could come down to Jones and, third-year player, Arden Key for the final defensive end spot.
