Raiders’ pursuit of Yannick Ngakoue might not be over yet

Deal for Jaguars’ defensive end would be “challenging, but not impossible,” according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport

After being dormant since the draft, trade talk involving Jacksonville Jaguars pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue resurfaced this week with The Athletic reporting that the Jags were close to a deal with two teams, which would be finalized by Thursday.

Of course, it is now Friday and no deal has happened and the Jaguars have denied any trade talks. However, there was more fuel to the rumors that the Raiders could end up trading for Ngakoue, who is just 25 and who has 37.5 career sacks in four NFL seasons.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that the Raiders are the one team that is keeping in touch with Jacksonville on Ngakoue.

The Raiders were connected to Ngakoue the day of the first round of the draft, but it did not developed.

As Rapoport noted, a trade does not appear to be imminent and a deal would be complicated. Ngakoue is looking for a monster deal and the Jaguars are looking for big trade compensation.

While nothing may be on the horizon, it is noteworthy that the Raiders haven’t completely closed the door and perhaps price tags will go down as the season gets closer. One look at this tweet and it’s easy to see why the Raiders should still be interested in acquiring Ngakoue.
