For a team ravaged by injuries, there was a good sign when the Raiders began to practice Wednesday — starting middle linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski was participating.
Barring a setback, Kwiatkoski should be in line to play Sunday against the visiting Buffalo Bills, who are 3-0. The Raiders, who are allowing 30 points a game, missed Kwiatkoski, who signed as a free agent for Chicago in March. He left in the third quarter in a Week 1 win at Carolina with a pec injury.
Meanwhile, the injury news isn’t all good. Right tackle Trent Brown was not on the practice field to start the workout Wednesday. He hasn’t played played or practiced since the first series of Week 1 with a calf injuries.
Brown, who signed a $66 million deal with the Raiders in 2019, has missed seven games since signing. There is still time for Brown to get ready to play before Sunday, so don’t fret quite yet.
On Monday, Raiders coach Jon Gruden said he was hopeful both Brown and Kwiatkoski could play Sunday.
UPDATE: Kwiatkoski was limited in practice.
