The Raiders’ backup quarterback situation got quite interesting on Monday when the team surprisingly put Marcus Mariota on the injured reserve with a pectoral injury. The hope is that he can return in three weeks.
With Mariota on the shelf, Nathan Peterman is the the only backup to Derek Carr on the 53-man roster. DeShone Kizer, who was in the Raiders’ program last year, was signed to the practice squad on Monday.
The Raiders could add a quarterback to back up Carr (Blake Bortles anyone???) or they can stick with Peterman even though he last played in the regular season in 2018 with the Buffalo Bills ... and he was awful.
