Former Raiders CEO Amy Trask dropped a nice bombshell while on The SB Nation NFL Show Podcast with host Rob Guerrera this week.

Among the tidbits that Trask opened up about was the fact that she recommended to late Raiders’ owner Al Davis that he hire Bill Belichick in 1998. Of course, Davis went with Jon Gruden as his coach — and Belichick carved out a legacy at the New England Patriots as their head coach.

It’s been known that the Raiders talked to Belichick, but hearing Trask tell the story is well worth the listen. Check it out here, and then stick around for the other awesome episodes.

Gruden has had a fine coaching career ... but no one is Belichick. Still, it would have been fascinating to see how the Belichick-Davis dynamic would work.

Wonder if Bill would have talked Davis into drafting Tom Brady in 2000?
