On Monday, Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden said the search to replace fired defensive coordinator Paul Guenther will be a quick process and interviews would start soon.
One of the reported contenders for the job is outgoing Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
Let’s take a closer look at Bradley.
Age:
54.
Current job:
He was the Chargers’ defensive coordinator the past four seasons. While head coach Anthony Lynn was fired on Monday, Bradley is still under contract with the Chargers for a couple of weeks.
Other NFL defensive coordinator experience:
Bradley was the Seattle Seahawks’ coordinator from 2009-12 at the beginning of their great “Legion of Boom” run.
Head-coaching experience:
Bradley was the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coach from 2013-16, where he had a record of 14-48.
What he’s known for:
Bradley is considered a strong defensive coordinator who works well with defensive backs. He runs the Cover 3 defense well and is known as a players’ coach.
Gruden connection:
Bradley was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ linebackers coach from 2006-08 under Gruden.
Why he would fit in Las Vegas:
Gruden trusts him. He has a history of fielding good defensive backfields, which the Raiders are looking to develop. Bradley also has a lot of NFL experience.
