Good day to you all, Nation! The good news?
You’ll be eating delicious, succulent Turkey this Week! The bad? Hell, we saw enough bad on Sunday to last us the entire Week..
kind of like Turkey sandwiches.
The fact of the matter is we can’t run w/ the ball in 2021. Josh Jacobs had 37 yards on Sunday. Joe Mixon: 123 yards with 2 TDs. That’s the difference between winning and losing, kids. Jacobs is the 39th rusher in the NFL. Mixon: Top 5. Derek Carr was also the lead rusher last Week.
You honestly can’t use play-action plays/ set up the pass without a good running game. Passing: does anyone honestly think we really have an elite receiver? Not 1 pass was thrown to a WR until 3:00 left in the 2nd Quarter. That’s due to A )They can’t get open B ) Scheme C) lack of vision from the QB. Carr also can’t keep plays alive with his feet.
My main point is it’s not because of just ONE GUY, you maniacs.
This Offensive Line is the bane of my existence. After re-watching the game, I saw WAY too many Linemen miss their blocks on runs. Pass protection needs a little work too!
We have to get this together or burn out like in the seasons of the past. 2 years ago, the Raiders were 6-2 and lost five of their last six. Last season, they were 6-3 and finished 8-8.
It starts with running the damn Football! Darren Waller agrees with the Lord of the Sith.
"When we run the ball well, that just makes us a really good team," said tight end Darren Waller. "Over the last couple years, when we can really pound the rock, that really is when we’re at our best offensively."
Darren Waller actually had a decent game with 7 catches for 117 yards. Despite his success, Wall still felt the team could of performed better.
"At the end of the day it comes down to are you moving the chains or not?" Raiders tight end Darren Waller said. "And we just haven’t been doing that."
He added:"We’ve got to find a way to be more balanced," Waller said.
Bring balance to the Force, O-Line! Execute or. be executed! (Ok maybe too dark but it’s me (:)
"Some people execute; some people don’t," Waller said. "It separates the good teams from the great teams."
"We came out flat. It was terrible," visibly angry quarterback Derek Carr said. "There’s no beating around it."
The Offense definitely had their chances. Most guys felt you should blame the whole unit..
other guys wanted y’all to take the bait..
"You put it all on me. It starts with me" Carr said. "It starts and ends with me, and it’ll be my fault until I’m not here."
I’m just not letting you fall on the sword that easily, DC. Sure, you weren’t at your best Sunday, but I know you’re not the root cause of the major mistakes made.
Derek surpassed the 3000 yard mark AGAIN as of Sunday. That makes him just the fourth quarterback in history to throw for 3k yards in each of his first eight seasons, joining an illustrious list of Cam Newton, Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson. Does anyone care? Most of you do not..but I think it’s all relevant when grading #4 Week to Week.
"I will always be someone who is honored with all those things and I always have been thankful," he said. "But I also have a lot of losses. I’d much rather trade being one of the only four for some of those wins and a Super Bowl ring. That’s for sure."
He needs just 63 more yards to surpass 30,000 for his career. No other quarterback in franchise history has thrown for 20,000 yards.
Bah, no one cares though..Most want Marcus Mariota to start.
Coach, your thoughts?
"A poor performance by us," Bisaccia said. "It didn’t look like we were in sync for most of the game. Why are we so out of sync on offense? It has been a theme the last three weeks. We all have to dig in. We all have to look at ourselves."
Look at yourselves.. and redeem yourselves!
"It’s been a little bit of an ongoing theme obviously, right now," Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia said. "We’ve been talking about it the last three weeks. We have to look at what we did poorly and try to fix it."
For 3 straight long Weeks we’ve been trying to fix it. We can’t just seem to find a good way to finish games.
"I’ve been a Raiders fan for 20 years, and I’m sick of this crap," said Carr, the team’s eight-year starter at quarterback. "No one is coming to save us, so we better figure it out." (Wow, Derek actually kind of cussed!) "I get pissed off. I get upset,"
We also need to figure out how to call better audibles.
In the 2nd Quarter, we were third and 6 at midfield with less than three minutes remaining in the second quarter. Carr had checked into inside run play. Drake was stuffed after 3 yards. The crowd went ballistic…
present company included!
"We’ve used it in the past and it’s worked honestly against certain looks," Carr said of the run play. "I’m just trying to execute to the best of my abilities with the tools we’ve talked about throughout the week. We’re very close honestly to a big play there. But when it gets stopped, it’s one of those, ‘Oh my gosh’ moments."
You can also replace that with WTF? I kept hearing WHY??? as well..
"It’s one of those things where (coach Jon Gruden) would (have said), ‘Don’t worry about it because they will boo me, not you."
There’s plenty of boos for everyone honestly.
On Defense, we did better, but are not receiving the best grades due to penalties, lack of D against the run and a few mishaps in the red zone.
Linebacker Denzel Perryman continues to quietly dominate in tackles. He had 12 tackles Sunday to remain one behind Seattle’s Bobby Wagner through the first 11 weeks of the season. He’s the only player in the league to have nine games of double-digit tackles. Still, Denzel was also not the most joyous individual after the game.
"I don’t think nobody is happy in that locker room right now."
The D-line did some great things despite the L. Yannick Ngakoue, Solomon Thomas and Quinton Jefferson each had a sack. Maxx Crosby continues to kill guys with pressures. This unit honestly deserves better.
Most of the guys know it will turn around eventually. It has to in their eyes..
"Adversity is going to come," Raiders defensive end Yannick Ngakoue said. " It’s all about how you respond."
There were also penalties against hitting Joe Burrow late, neutral zone fouls and other bonehead flags.
"We shot ourselves in the foot a lot today," Raiders linebacker Denzel Perryman said.
Coach Rich felt we lacked discipline as a Team once again.
"There were concentration penalties, alignment penalties. It was really a cornucopia of penalties," interim coach Rich Bisaccia said. "We had concentration penalties where we lined up in the neutral zone. Then we have the 15-yarder where we had our guy put his hands on the back of the quarterback when he’s throwing it away and we’re going to get off the field."
The Defense is savage, but lacks focus sometimes.
"We just didn’t do a very good job."
"Penalties don’t help you win games at all," Ngakoue said. "I can do a better job pulling up on the quarterback, but I was just trying to give 100 percent effort on that play. I wish I could get it back."
Our Quarterback also realizes the penalties issue is a big concern.
"It’s something coach Bisaccia stresses more than any coach I’ve been around," quarterback Derek Carr said of maintaining discipline. "I’m sure we’re going to hear about it, as we should. It’s something we need to fix."
I say we throw them in the Sarlacc pitt if anyone receives more than 3, but that’s just me again..
"Penalties are penalties," linebacker Denzel Perryman said. "Whether you like it or not, whether it was a good call or not, there’s still laundry on the field."
We just have to do a better job of getting it off the field.
Where do we go from here? The Raiders are on a plane in less than 48 hours and we have a lot to fix before the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving.
Sometimes, all you can do is lift, rest, study and prepare for battle. I’m positive this team can still surprise us when we least expect it. This team may have some issues, but each can be corrected if we focus on one problem at a time.
Most of you of you think it’s over. If you really believe that? Stop watching..PLEASE! I honestly would like to read more about solutions than complaints at this point.
Sure, I know most of you want Mariota in, but I’m not sure anything would change. He did give Receivers a little bit more time to get open with his legs last year, but we still lost the game he started in last year. Also not one team also wanted to sign him as a Starter last year after looking over his resume….not one. No one even remembers that these days..
DC maintains he’d like to be a part of the organization and is commited to winning. Who could ask for anything more?
"I just want to be part of the moment it changes," Carr said. "I want that so bad. That’s what keeps driving me. I get pissed off and upset and stand up here, and I’ve done this way too many times … It shouldn’t always end like this crap."
I remind people often that Derek/WE did loose our number one Receiver due to stupidity. This is the price we pay.
Time will tell if Derek. can turn this around with his play. Hopefully, we’re designing new plays to get the Receivers going as I write this.
"I don’t care about anything else," Carr said. "We need to win."
Have a great Holiday, Nation! Be thankful about what you have! Let’s surprise EVERYONE with a big win by passing as much as you can while opening up the run! Use screens! Utilize Hunter Renfrow, Bryan Edwards, Josh Jacobs, Kenyan Drake and Waller the best way possible! Use Tight Ends to help block for the Running backs! Do we have any go routes available for DeSean Jackson? Just a few thoughts!!!!
Happy THANKSGIVING RAIDER NATION! YOU ALWAYS WIN WITH FAMILY! GOD BLESS!
