The Morning After

Rough week for the Silver and Black. Tuesday through Friday was pretty emotionally draining for me as a fan. I can't imagine what it was like for the men on the team.

The Good

Offensive Line: 3rd straight game they find themselves in the god section. They allowed the sack at the end of the game, but overall that was another good showing. Second straight game over 100yds rushing & 3rd straight of an effective run game.

Pass defense: 96yds passing is pretty amazing. 3 sacks and strip sack really kept the team in the game.

Mariota Package: We haven't seen it a lot, but I have liked what I have seen so far. I can't wait to see what wrinkles come off of it the rest of the season.

The Bad

Run Defense: Booker seemed to get 4-5 yds at will. I'm not freaking out as much as some people about the run defense. I think it's managable as long as you can get off the field when you get them in a 3rd and mid to long. Raiders did an alright job getting off the field on 3rd down. But with the run game going the Giants were able to hold the ball for long periods of time.

Penalties: There weren't a ton of penalties, but the ones they had seemed huge. I guess they always feel like that when you're losing.

The Ugly

Carr: I've always said QB's get too much credit for wins and they get too much blame for losses. This one the blame falls pretty squarley on Carr's shoulders. Other than the first drive he was just off. The accuracy wasnt' there, the decisiveness wasnt' there, he was staring down receivers. He just didn't look like himself. Both INT's were 100% his fault (and that pick 6 was a back breaker). Missing Waller that bad in the endzone...

Redzone offense: 6 trips to the redzone and 1 TD. That won't cut it at any level of football.

Crazy stat of the week

The Raiders are 0-2 when holding teams to under 300yds total offense

CHI 252yds

NYG 245yds
